Trips

On your request we will also organize visits of some sights in the vicinity of the entertainment kingdom. We recommend visiting Županova jama (Mayor's Cave), water park Atlantis or an exploration of the capital city.

1. Županova Jama (Mayor's Cave)

First you will go down stairs in the spatial hall "LEDENICA" (Icehouse) which has a shape of a sack, where in the winter time due to a low temperature ice crystals stalagmite appear, which gave the hall its name.

Along the landslip, next to the western wall of the hall, there are in a steep rock hewed stairs leading up through the excavated tunnel in a low "SREBRNA DVORANA" (Silver Hall) rich with crystal stalactite and sinter pools.

Neighboring "ŽUPANOVA DVORANA" (Mayor's Hall) has leveled floors as a result of a landslip. In 11 m tall ceiling you can see original entrance to the cave.

The path leads from the hall through a low shaft with erosion shaped walls, passing 4 m tall stalagmite "SVEČNIK" (Candlestick) and uphill passing group of pillars formed by fusion of stalactite and stalagmite "ORGLE" (Organ) into the biggest 30 m long, 20 m wide and up to 10 m tall cave. Inside the cave you can find mighty stalagmites, among which the strongest group presents "SPOMENIK NEZNANEMU JUNAKU" (Monument to Unknown Hero) as a memory of First World War.

Opposite to it stands beautiful "PERMETOV STEBER" (Permet's Pillar) in memory of a man who discovered Županova jama. Southeast wall is all sintered, and at a same time the ceiling is full of stalactite. Taking the stairs we arrive in "BLATNA DVORANA" (Muddy Hall) which got its name by thick layer of clay that used to cover the floor. Western wall is bare, and next to the eastern wall the mighty stalactite grow, among them huge stalagmite which measures 7 m in extend. Till 1937 these were the only known parts of the cave.

That year they managed to break through the cracks in the spacious "MATJAŽEVA DVORANA" (Matjaž's Hall) named after "MATJAŽEV PRESTOL" (Matjaž's Throne) which is shaped by two mighty pillars formed by fusion of stalactite and stalagmite. In the floor around these pillars there are numerous brownish sinter pools, and some big stalagmites in a shape of bananas are hanging from the wall.

The floor of the hall in its narrow passage slowly turns into another, 30 m long "ZADNJA DVORANA" (The Last Hall), filled with clay and rocks which ends up with abyss. In a year 1994 the cave explorers of the club "Železničar" (Railwayman) from Ljubljana discovered continuation of the cave.

They found a new one, "IGORJEVA DVORANA" (Igor's Hall) which is named after the man who discovered it. It is 30 m long, and has stalactites on the east side. It's accessible only for cave explorers. Županova jama is a work of the bygone stream Podlomščica which today runs lower in the wide valley, next to the foothills of the hill Tabor. The residues of the river sediments in the cave tell us that. Latter landslips have changed the original shape of the cave. In the youngest development era, numerous capillary stalagmites covered the rocks made by landslip. Therefore, the water only appears as stalactite water.

The cave lies 410 m high, it is 360 m long and reaches the depth of 77 m. Excellent electrical lighting makes the fresh and various shapes in the cave look stunning.
